INFORMATION ABOUT BARRIER-FREE ACCESSIBILITY
The nearest disabled parking spaces are located at Residenzplatz 9 (6 parking spaces), Toscaninihof 1 (3 parking spaces) and Max-Reinhardt-Platz (10 parking spaces) - the bollards in front of the Festspielhaus and Mozartplatz can be operated with the Euro-key.
Barrier-free access to Hohensalzburg Fortress is possible via the fortress funicular. The entrance is located in the base station of the fortress funicular at Festungsgasse 4. It is not necessary to register in advance. The walk to the fortress is not barrier-free due to its steepness.
Accessibility inside the fortress
Please note that there are many steps and slopes in the fortress, making accessibility difficult. Currently, as of 2018, only the bastion in the castle station area is 100% barrier-free. From here you can enjoy a wonderful panoramic view of the old town of Salzburg. We are constantly working to make other outdoor areas accessible. Starting in 2019, the entire outdoor grounds of the fortress will be accessible. The indoor areas do not offer barrier-free accessibility.
Disabled toilets are located next to the Info Point and inside the fortress restaurant.
Care attendants and partner dogs
Partner dogs are allowed at Hohensalzburg Fortress. Wheelchair users and one accompanying person receive free admission to the fortress.
An impairment level of 70% or more entitles the visitor to free admission to the fortress.
