The state rooms

A festive delight

Salzburg has been a festive town for centuries. Here in the state-rooms of the Residenz, the prince-archbishops once welcomed high-ranking guests and entertained them with food and drink, gaming, dancing and fireworks – and above all, with music.

Johann Kaspar Riesbeck wrote about Salzburg in his "Letters of a travelling Frenchman" (1777): "Everything here breathes the spirit of pleasure and delight: one feasts, dances, makes music, loves and plays frantically."

We are proud to offer you these spectacular rooms, property of the Province of Salzburg, as a location for your event. Further facilities are available, including a fully-equipped kitchen for a caterer of your choice, artists' dressing-rooms or side-rooms for exclusive cocktails. We would be happy to show you round – just make an appointment.
