Experiencing history

Special tours are available for school classes and children's/youth groups as part of the educational museum program to give children and youths more insight into life in the Middle Ages.

1. Treasures at the Residenz

The precious masterpieces in the state rooms are explained on tours designed for each age group. The objects of interest include stoves, clocks, paintings, tapestries, treasure chests, etc. Narrations and short plays give children a vivid impression of life at the court of Salzburg's archbishops. The tour ends in the high gallery of the Franciscan Church.

Length  90 minutes

2. Where am I?

(including program "Treasures at the Residence")

Many people have gotten lost walking through the thirteen state rooms of Salzburg's Residenz. An "ancient" map of the Residenz will help us find our way. At the end of the narrated tour, each child can draw its own map of the Residenz and take it home sealed with "genuine" sealing wax.
