Life in the castle

"All inclusive" at Mauterndorf Castle

Display of medieval life - Mauterndorf Castle
Mauterndorf uses an audio guide to allow visitors the option of exploring whatever parts of the castle they wish to see on their own. The tour is available in seven languages and there"s even a special highly entertaining version for kids.

One of the highlights of the tour is a visit to the watch and defence tower. Life-size models portray the way the tower was used back in the Middle Ages. The sixth floor offers a wonderful 360° view of the entire Lungau region.

An outing to the Mauterndorf Castle including an audio guide tour, a walk around the look-out and defence tower, a visit to the Lungau country museums, culinary fortification in the Burgschenke restaurant tavern and a look at the medieval games area can best be enjoyed by planning at least half a day for the full visit.
